In an exclusive interview with The Logistics World, Ariel Katz, Regional Head of Environment at Mercado Libre, discussed the main challenges of deploying EV fleets, from acquiring vehicles to implementing effective charging strategies. With 2,321 electric vehicles currently in use, Mercado Libre has successfully cut down over 2,430 metric tons of CO₂ emissions, making notable progress toward cleaner and more efficient transportation.

However, one major challenge persisted: the necessity for strategically placed ultra-fast charging stations to enhance vehicle availability on the road and reduce downtime caused by prolonged charging periods.

Supercool’s fast-charging solutions for EV fleets

This is where Supercool Mobility Center became instrumental. Through our collaboration with Mercado Libre, we improved fleet charging at the XC Power by QiOn public charging station, strategically situated in Puebla’s industrial zone, close to Volkswagen’s plant in Parque Finsa.

This station is equipped with QiOn ultra-fast chargers that provide up to 1 MW of power, significantly shortening charging times. For Mercado Libre’s delivery vehicles, the charging duration has been cut down to just 40 minutes, maximizing on-road availability and boosting operational efficiency in last-mile logistics.
